LG42L4.EXE is the current maintenance patch for Lan WorkGroup 4.2. It is recommended for all sites using LAN WorkGroup 4.2 or LAN WorkGroup 4.1. Extract it in a clean temporary directory. LG42L4.EXE supersedes LWG42L.EXE (Rev C). Updated/New Files: BOOTP.NLM, LWGIO.NLM, and LWP_CHK.BAT.

1.2 - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1.2.1 - At the file server console prompt, run: UNISTOP.NCF
1.2.2 - On a client, login to the file server as SUPERVISOR (or equivalent).
1.2.3 - Make a backup copy of all of the SYS:\SYSTEM\*.NLM files contained in this patch.
1.2.4 - Create a temporary directory and copy LG42L4.EXE into it. LG42L4.EXE is a self-extracting file which contains the files listed in section 1.3.
1.2.5 - Using the files contained within this patch, perform this command: NCOPY *.NLM SYS:\SYSTEM.
1.2.6 - At the file server console prompt, run: UNISTART.NCF
NOTE: If the file server has problems allocating short term memory for LAN WorkGroup's cache table entries, try to increase the setting for the short term memory allocation (or worst-case, down the file server).

2 - NEW THIS REVISION
2.1 - BOOTPD.NLM (950111)
Corrects a problem where DNS information was not returned to a client with a static IP address assigned by a BOOTP server.
NOTE: This problem does not affect clients with dynamically assigned IP addresses.
2.2 - LWGIO.NLM (940912)
Now refreshes its internal tables when SYS:\ETC\BOOTPTAB.NEW is created. Once the tables are updated, the file is removed from SYS:\ETC.
2.3 - LWP_CHK.BAT / LWP_LOG.BAT
LWP_CHK.BAT will examine your client environment and determine if there are multiple copies of files in unexpected locations. It will generate a log file (LWP.LOG) in the TEMP directory. LWP.LOG lists the important files that were found via your PATH, complete with version and path information. Run this batch file to determine if your LAN WorkPlace environment is stable.
LWP_LOG.BAT is used by LWP_CHK.BAT to create LWP.LOG.
NOTE: When running LWP_CHK.BAT and LWP_LOG.BAT, these files must either be in a directory referenced by path or in your current directory.
3 - PREVIOUS UPDATES
3.1 - LWGCON.NLM
3.1.1 - (941013) -- Corrected an internal problem which prevented saving valid workstation information (workstation name, IP address, MAC address, sub-network profile).
3.2 - BOOTPFD.NLM
3.2.1 - (R4.20A) -- Now replies to a forwarded BOOTP request with a point-to-point (not a broadcast) response.
3.3 BOOTPD.NLM
3.3.1 - (940616) -- Now correctly supports the FRAME types of FDDI_SNAP and IBM_PCN2_SNAP.
3.3.2 - (940616) -- Corrected DNS problems where clients were statically assigned IP addresses. Make sure that these clients have a valid \NET\TCP\RESOLV.CFG. The format for this file (LAN WorkPlace Administrator's Guide, Page 3-6) is:
